Merging PDFs on a phone is easier than it looks. You don't need to install an app, and you don't need to email files to a laptop first. Any modern iOS or Android browser can upload multiple PDFs at once, and a web tool can stitch them together in a few seconds.
What you need
A modern browser (Safari 14+, Chrome for Android, or the built-in browser on most current phones), the PDF files you want to combine already saved to your phone, and a stable connection while the merge is in progress. Most files stay under 50 MB per PDF on mobile networks — anything larger benefits from Wi-Fi.
Steps on iPhone (Safari)
1. Open /merge-pdf in Safari.
2. Tap the upload area — Safari lets you pick multiple files from Files (iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or a downloaded location).
3. Drag the file cards up or down to change the merge order.
4. Tap Merge PDF. The combined file downloads to Files → Downloads.
5. Long-press the download to Share it or Save to a folder.
Steps on Android (Chrome)
1. Open /merge-pdf in Chrome.
2. Tap Upload and pick multiple PDFs from your file manager. Google Files, Samsung My Files, and the built-in picker all work.
3. Reorder the files by dragging the cards.
4. Tap Merge PDF. The output file lands in your Downloads folder.
5. Open it in Google Drive, WhatsApp, or share it directly.
Common problems on mobile
Upload keeps failing. Switch from cellular to Wi-Fi — large uploads over 4G can be flaky.
Order looks scrambled. Files upload in the order you tap them; check the file cards on the page and drag them into the right sequence before merging.
File too large. Compress each PDF first with Compress PDF, then merge.
Encrypted PDF. Unlock it first with Unlock PDF, then merge.
What if the merged file is too big to email?
Run the combined output through Compress PDF — pick medium or high compression. For most scanned documents, this brings a 50 MB file under the common 25 MB Gmail cap without visible quality loss.
