How the QR Scanner Works
This tool reads a QR code from your device's camera or an uploaded image and extracts the information hidden inside it. It first locates the three large "finder patterns" — the square markers in three corners of every QR code — which help determine the code's orientation and boundaries. It then reads the grid and converts it back into binary data, using any embedded error-correction data to repair damaged or unclear sections.
Once decoded, the tool identifies what type of data it is — a website link, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, or a contact card (vCard) — and displays it accordingly, such as making a link directly clickable. For camera-based scanning, the tool continuously analyzes each video frame until a valid QR code appears in view, which is what makes live scanning feel instant.
This is useful for anyone whose default camera app can't read QR codes, or who needs to scan a code from a screenshot or saved image rather than a live camera feed. Scanning happens entirely on-device, so images are never uploaded to a server.
