Split a PDF into pages or ranges

Extract single pages, custom ranges, or every N pages into separate PDF files.

Split PDF breaks one PDF into several. You can pull out a single page, extract a specific range (say pages 3–7), or split by fixed chunks. The output is a set of smaller PDFs — each one is a valid standalone document, not a page image.

For most tasks you only need to type the pages or ranges you want. Comma-separated ranges are supported, so "1, 3, 5-9" gives you exactly those pages.

How to use it

  1. 1Upload the PDF you want to split.
  2. 2Choose the split mode: extract specific ranges, or split by chunk size.
  3. 3Type the ranges you want, using commas to separate multiple ranges (for example "1,4,7-12").
  4. 4Press Split PDF. The result downloads as a ZIP containing one PDF per range.

Real-world use cases

  • Send only the invoice pages of a long report, not the whole file.
  • Split a scanned book into individual chapters.
  • Prepare exhibits for a legal filing where each exhibit must be a separate PDF.
  • Divide a large e-book into smaller files for a device that struggles with big PDFs.

Frequently asked questions

How do I specify page ranges?

Use commas and hyphens: "1" is page 1, "1-5" is pages 1 to 5, and "1,3,5-9" gives you pages 1, 3 and 5 through 9 as separate output PDFs.

Will each output PDF be searchable?

Yes — split is lossless. If the input had selectable text, the output does too. If the input was a scan (image-only), the output will also be image-only. Run OCR first if you need searchable text.

Can I split a PDF into individual pages automatically?

Yes. Choose the chunk-size mode and set the chunk size to 1 — you get one output PDF per page.

Is there a page limit?

No hard limit. Very large PDFs (thousands of pages) may take a few seconds to process.
