Edit PDF — add text with click-to-place

Type new text, click where you want it on the page, and download the edited PDF.

Edit PDF adds text to any page by clicking on the page preview at the position you want the text. You control font size and page number. The tool doesn't try to be a full-featured desktop editor — it's for quick edits like adding a signature line, correcting a typo, or filling in a printed form.

For heavy editing, converting the PDF to Word (with the PDF to Word tool) is often easier — edit in Word, then convert back.

How to use it

  1. 1Upload the PDF.
  2. 2Type the text you want to add.
  3. 3Optionally change the font size.
  4. 4Click on the page preview at the exact position you want the text.
  5. 5Press Apply Edit. Download the edited PDF.

Real-world use cases

  • Add a date or reference number to a fillable form.
  • Correct a typo on a single line without redoing the whole document.
  • Add a caption under an image on a technical drawing.
  • Insert a note in a scanned document.

Supported formats & limits

Input: PDF. Text is added as a single line at the clicked position with the selected font size. For multi-line editing, apply the tool multiple times.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the existing text?

This tool adds new text on top. For editing existing text, convert the PDF to Word first, edit, then convert back to PDF.

Can I change the font?

The tool uses a default sans-serif font. Font size is adjustable. Fine typographic control requires a desktop editor.

Can I add an image instead of text?

For images, use the Sign PDF tool — it lets you drop any PNG/JPG onto the page.

How do I position the text precisely?

Zoom your browser first, then click. The click position becomes the top-left corner of the text.
