Add page numbers to a PDF

Insert 1, 2, 3 (or any format) on every page — corner or centre, top or bottom.

Add Page Numbers stamps a page number on each page of your PDF at the position you choose. Useful when you assemble a report from multiple sources and end up with an unnumbered final document, or when you need to add numbers to a scanned book.

Numbering starts at 1 by default. Position options: top-left / top-center / top-right / bottom-left / bottom-center / bottom-right.

How to use it

  1. 1Upload the PDF.
  2. 2Pick a position for the numbers.
  3. 3Press Add Page Numbers. Download the numbered PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start numbering from a specific page?

This tool numbers every page starting from 1. To skip a cover, split the cover off first, number the body, then merge.

Can I choose a different format like 'Page 1 of 12'?

The tool inserts a simple numeric label. For fancier formats, use a desktop editor after numbering.

Does it work on landscape pages?

Yes — position is relative to the page's own orientation.

Will it overwrite existing page numbers?

It adds a new number on top. If the PDF already has page numbers, expect two.
