Every so often you have a PDF but need the original Word document — for editing, translating, or adapting the layout. PDF to Word does exactly this. The output opens in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs, and any modern word processor.
Steps
1. Open /pdf-to-word.
2. Upload the PDF.
3. Press Convert to Word.
4. Open the downloaded .docx and start editing.
What converts well
Plain reports, letters, résumés, articles, and structured business documents convert with high fidelity. Text is accurate; paragraphs and images sit where they were on the page.
What needs cleanup
Multi-column magazine layouts, brochures with heavy design elements, tables with merged cells, mathematical equations, and PDFs generated from InDesign or similar tools often need a pass of manual formatting after conversion. The text is still accurate — you just need to adjust the layout.
Scanned PDFs
If your PDF is a scan (no text layer), PDF to Word will produce an empty document or one filled with page images. Run OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then convert.
Fonts
The .docx references the fonts used in the PDF. If the exact font isn't installed on your computer, Word substitutes. To keep the look exactly as the original, install the source font locally.
For 80% of documents the output is directly usable. For the trickier 20%, converting to Word is still faster than retyping — a few minutes of layout cleanup is usually all it takes.
