PDF Hub Desktop
The offline version of PDF Hub. Every tool you know from the web, but running locally on your machine — nothing uploaded, nothing in the cloud. Built for teams that handle confidential documents.
100% offline processing
PDFs never leave your machine. Ideal for legal, medical, and financial teams that cannot upload confidential documents to any web service.
Native speed
The same engines that power the web tools (PyMuPDF, Ghostscript, LibreOffice, Tesseract) run locally — no upload/download round-trips, no queueing.
Audit-friendly
Everything happens on your device. No telemetry on the documents themselves, only optional anonymous usage stats you can opt out of.
Batch mode
Point it at a folder of hundreds of PDFs and let it compress, watermark, or OCR the whole set overnight.
Why offline PDF processing matters
For most everyday tasks — combining travel receipts, compressing a résumé, converting a scanned bill — the web version of PDF Hub is the fastest path. Nothing to install, works on any device, files auto-deleted after processing. But some documents cannot leave the machine they came from. Contracts under an NDA. Patient records under HIPAA. Financial statements under an internal data-loss-prevention policy. Legal exhibits in an ongoing case.
PDF Hub Desktop is the answer to that constraint. It ships the same open-source engines we use on pdfhub.space — pypdf, PyMuPDF, LibreOffice, Ghostscript, Tesseract — bundled into a single-installer app for Windows and macOS. You point it at a file (or a folder full of files), pick the operation, and everything happens on your CPU. No upload. No cloud. No queueing behind other users.
What ships in the first release
The launch build focuses on the tools where offline processing matters most: Merge, Split, Compress, Rotate, Watermark, Protect, Unlock, Page Numbers, PDF ↔ Word, PDF ↔ JPG, and OCR (English + Hindi + Spanish + French language packs). Additional tools — comparison, redaction, forms, and AI features — will follow in later versions once we have decided whether the AI models should run locally (via a small on-device model) or optionally in the cloud with explicit user opt-in.

Frequently asked questions
What operating systems will PDF Hub Desktop support?▾
Windows 10/11 (x64) and macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon and Intel) at launch, with Linux (AppImage) planned for a follow-up release.
Will the desktop app include all 30 tools?▾
The launch build focuses on the tools where offline processing matters most: Merge, Split, Compress, Rotate, Watermark, Protect, Unlock, Page Numbers, PDF↔Word/JPG conversions, and OCR. Additional tools will roll out over subsequent versions.
Is the desktop app free?▾
The core tools are free. Advanced features (batch OCR, PDF/A archival, priority support) will be part of a one-time-purchase Pro tier — no subscription. Pricing will be announced with the beta.
How is this different from the online version?▾
The web version is faster to try (nothing to install) and always up to date. The desktop version is required only when you must guarantee that documents never leave your device — for example, HIPAA/PII/legally sensitive material.
When will it be available?▾
